Growing up as the eldest brother, I always felt like a leader. Gifted in sport, I had natural talent—but I didn’t get my shot at elite football until later. I started asking why others were being scouted before me, and it hit me: many of them had started young. They were cleaner on the ball, sharper in technique—because they’d been developing for years. I knew then that the earlier a child builds their technical foundation—ball mastery, striking, decision-making—the more chance they have to shine. I made it my mission to help my younger brothers do just that. One of them? He started early, stood out, and is now a professional footballer playing for Reading FC.

But football has given us more than careers—it’s given us family. I’ll never forget when we gathered to support a friend who was suddenly ill. As we laughed and shared memories, it dawned on me: our bond started on a pitch when we were just kids. He didn’t go pro. He wasn’t the best. But he kept coming. And now, decades later, football gave him the family that stands beside him in life’s hardest moments.

Then there’s another friend—he didn’t even make the school team. Still, he trained hard, believed in himself, and stayed in love with the game.
